RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR 1:8 SIDECAR RACERS
All sidecar machines must replicate machines used in the Sidecar World Cup. All bodyshells must be loosely based on the Luis Christan Racing machine.
This category of racing will be split into two classes (Standard and Modified).The standard class is for entrants wishing to operate on a small budget. The motor in this class is restricted to standard 540v. Battery packs are limited to a maximum 1200mah 7.2v. No electronic speedcontrollers are permitted.
The modified class is for entrants wishing to run any 27 turn motor (£25.00 maximum price limit), electronic speedcontrollers and 7.2v battery packs with open cell capacity. Two speed gearboxes will be permitted with slipper style clutches.
All machines are to be 1:8 scale (as per the N.I. Tech sidecar racer) although home built machines are allowed.
REGULATIONS FOR SIDECARS
All running gear must be fitted to a one piece flat chassis, material and thickness are open.
Suspension is not permitted.
Only the rear wheel can be driven (Must be driven directly from the motor and no belt drive systems are permitted). Only the front wheel can be steerable. The sidecar wheel must be offset (forward of driven rear wheel).
Maximum tyre diameter when fitted to any rim is 62mm.Minimum tyre width is 15mm. Maximum tyre width is 50mm. (Modified machines only. Standard class must run 1:12 scale rims and tyres).Battery packs for standard class are to be a maximum of 1200mah capacity 7.2v packs (stick or saddle packs). Battery packs for modified class are to be 7.2v packs with open capacity cells (stick or saddle packs).
Motors must be stock 540v for standard class. Motors for modified class are any 27 turn motor with retail price limit of £25.00
No wings or airfoils are permitted.
Maximum overall chassis length is 370mm (including 10mm tolerance). Maximum overall chassis width is 185mm (including 10mm tolerance).
Bodyshell material is open, but must include full driver and passenger figures. ANY new bodyshells must be presented to the NIRCMBA at least 1 month before the first meeting of its intended use for type approval.
Bodyshells entered into the concourse award must be run in all heats and finals that day. In the event of the bodyshell being destroyed another shell may be substituted. The destroyed bodyshell must be brought to the Race Director for confirmation.
